CE's new subsidised housing plan
The Chief Executive Donald Tsang has proposed a raft of measures in a bid to stablise housing prices and help residents onto the property ladder. They include a new subsidised housing plan, tighter investment requirement for foreigners seeking residency here and stricter rules preventing deceptive measures by property developers. To comment on the measures, Bryan Curtis was joined by the head of regional property research of the Royal Bank of Scotland, David Ng. (6.05 mins)
Tsang Kwan O landfill
As we heard earlier, legislators have voted 55 to 2, backing a motion to repeal a government order expanding the landfill at Tseung Kwan O. The matter was put to a vote although government lawyers insisted that Legco has no power to veto the order to extend the landfill into Clear Water Bay Country Park. The discord between the legislature and the government has sparked concerns that the saga may evolve into a wider constitutional crisis. The motion was put forward by Civic Party lawmaker, Tanya Chan. She joined us on the programme. (3.29 mins)
