Radical changes to the budget - Part 1
The Financial Secretary has made readical changes to his budget following mounting political pressure for him to return wealth to the people. Gone is the proposal to inject 6,000 dollars into each worker's Mandatory Provident Fund account. John Tsang has now proposed that all permanent residents over the age of 18 are to receive a 6,000 dollars handout from the government, while those who pay salaries tax will get a rebate worth up to 6,000 dollars. 'Serious concern' over CE attack
Beijing has expressed serious concern about the attack by a protester on the Chief Executive, Donald Tsang. The Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office said it noted Mr Tsang was injured after being struck by a member of the League of Social Democrats and it was seriously concerned about the incident. And in another development, legislative councillors have condemned violent actions by radical Legco members towards government officials during council sessions.
