EOC proposes special tribunal
The Equal Opportunities Commission is urging the government to set up a special tribunal to deal with discrimination cases.
Its chairman, W.K. Lam, says the proposal has widespread support from those involved, including trade unions and employers, as it would reduce legal costs and time. Ian Pooler asked Mr Lam about the current procedures involved in dealing with discrimination cases. (3.44 mins)
Yemen protest
Protests are continuing to gather momentum in Yemen, where belegaureed President Ali Abdullah Saleh is struggling to hold on to power. Dozens of people have died in clashes bewteen protestors and security forces since demonstrations began last month. They want President Saleh to step down after 32 years in power, and the pressure of the mounting protests have prompted him to declare that he will not seek another term in office. But what's the background to this discontent? And what's the likely outcome of the standoff? Ian Pooler asked Yemen expert Tim Mackintosh-Smith , who's lived in the capital Sanaa for almost thirty years, whether he believes the regime there will be able to survive the protests there.
